This hot comp unearths gems from the grassroots and whams them straight in the faces of MPs and other VIP dudes in suits who probably need some fun injected in their lives.
Village Green are then bringing the winners back from the gilt chambers of power to the green grass of Chalkwell Park. KEEPING IT REAL, GUYS.
IN OTHER NEWS:
As announced on Ollie Winiberg's BBC radio show, we were proud as punch to announce the addition of hotly-tipped bands Linnen and Petty Phase to the Village Green line-up.
This year we had a record number of bands apply to perform at Village Green – over 500 regional musicians gave our panel a really tough job of choosing.
The panel – comprised of folk from The Railway Hotel, Chinnerys, Cool Thing Records, Metal, and South East Essex College – finally managed to settle on two regional bands to play the main stages.
Linnen will be playing the Riverside stage and Petty Phase will be opening the Village Green stage.
They will be joining the awesome stable of emerging and established Southend artists Youth Club, Asylums, Lydia Kitto, Sharon Rose, and Dicky Moore who will be playing with his brilliant cult band Dream Themes.
Completing the line up on the main stage will be the Winners of Rock The House - the House of Commons competition to find hot new talent.
